Dr. Joanna K. Chon & Team

Dr. Joanna K. Chon brings a wealth of expertise in all areas of general urology with specialized training in male and female voiding disorders.  She is board certified in Female Pelvic Floor Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery in addition to Urology.   Dr. Chon graduated from the University of Pennsylvania where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering. She attended medical school at the George Washington University.  Dr. Chon went on to complete her residency at the University of Maryland and then completed a fellowship at the Towers Institute of Continence, Cedars Sinai Hospital, Los Angeles.  Following her fellowship, Dr. Chon returned to Philadelphia where she was started her career as an Assistant Professor in Urology on the faculty at the Thomas Jefferson University and then went on  to private practice in the Philadelphia suburbs.  She was voted by her peers in Philadelphia in 2011 and 2012 as a “Top Doc” in the Philadelphia magazine. She joined Naples Urology Associates in June 2012.  Shas been recognized as a “Top Doctor ” annually from 2013 to 2020  by Castle Connelly in the GulfShore Life magazine.

Dr. Chon served on the board of Society of Women in Urology. She is also a current member of American Urological Association and Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine & Urogenital Reconstruction.  Dr. Chon has also published articles in peer-reviewed medical journals, written chapters for urology textbooks and taught numerous surgical courses on pelvic floor reconstruction and vaginal sling techniques.

Dr. Chon stays on the forefront of urological techniques by keeping abreast on the cutting edge technology and procedures. She is an accomplished pelvic floor reconstructive surgeon and offers a vast array of surgical techniques including: vaginal, laparoscopic as well as robotic approaches.  She specializes in cystocele repairs, rectocele repairs, sacrocolpopexies and vaginal sling procedures. Dr. Chon follows all industry standards and FDA guidelines for the use of pelvic mesh.

Besides surgical intervention, Dr. Chon also offers a wide variety of conservative and medical treatments to help her male and female patients with voiding disorders and pelvic floor disorders.  She believes in pelvic floor therapy and biofeedback and has a Pelvic Floor Therapy Clinic that teaches both male and female patients the proper techniques to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles (Kegel exercises.)  She has innovative, nonsurgical approaches to the treatment of stress incontinence and is able to offer the newest modalities of treatment, including vaginal PRP, laser and radiofrequency treatments in the office.

Dr. Chon also enjoys seeing men and women for general urological needs. She can help men and women manage and treat their general urological needs including kidney stone management, incontinence, dysuria, and hematuria, biopsies of the bladder, bladder cancer surveillance and cystoscopies. Specifically, she can help men with BPH, PSA surveillance, erectile dysfunction as well as prostate biopsies, TURPs, and vasectomies.

Dr. Chon offers a wide variety of products, treatments and services that range from conservative to surgical therapies. She believes in educating the patient about their condition, discussing the treatment options with the patient and developing a treatment plan that allows the patient to make informed decisions about their urological care.
